The post What Are the Biggest Red Flags in the Kitchen?  appeared first on Karibe | Cookware | Signature Recipes.

]]>
Some of the biggest red flags in the kitchen you should be aware of are poor hygiene, unorganized kitchen, and worn-out cooking tools. 🚩🚩🚩

The three listed above are my red flags, but there is a significant number of flags you should be aware of. I’ll dive deeper and share with you what to consider in this post. I have broken down the post into three categories, such as signs you should never eat at someone’s house or restaurant, poor cooking habits, and a toxic kitchen you should avoid. After reading this post you may be converted into a picky eater, which is not a bad thing. So, without further ado, let’s dive into my list of the biggest red flags in the kitchen.

Signs You Should Never Eat at Someone’s House or Restaurant

Please consider my comments regarding “signs you should never eat at someone’s house or restaurant”. I would argue that this is my most important category. Following my advice may save you from getting food poisoning, tasting horrible food, and so much more.

A sign is its appearance. If the home or restaurant doesn’t seem welcoming, trust your gut and do not eat there. Now I recognize that this is subjective, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Another sign is hygiene. If the person in charge of the home or restaurant does not care to make the home or restaurant presentable, please beware. If you don’t want to come off rude, just pull the “picky eater card”.

The benefit of being a picky eater is that you can deny any food offerings. Simply state that you ate before you arrived at your destination. Take this as an opportunity to develop the skill of learning how to cook

Poor Cooking Habits

As you take the initiative to improve your cooking skills, you should make it a point to eliminate poor cooking habits. Before we dive into the actual habit, please keep note that it starts with your cookware. Worn out and old cookware is a major red flag. Honestly, whenever I see eyesore cookware, I immediately add it to the “toxic kitchens you should avoid” list.

As for poor cooking habits, not properly preparing food is a no. Cross contamination between meats and vegetables can get you sick at the minimum. Not washing your poultry prior to adding seasonings would make my stomach turn. Whenever I see this, I immediately pull my picky eater card.

One more poor cooking habit is not cooking with love. This may appear minimal, but when someone does not put in any effort in their cooking, you’ll taste the difference. If there isn’t any love in your cooking, then that is definitely a toxic kitchen in my book.

Toxic Kitchen You Should Avoid

When I discuss toxic kitchens, I do not mean your nosy neighbor or someone’s personal home. Although this does exist, I notice this significantly in restaurants or other popular establishments. The tips provided below are from my own anecdotal experience, so please do not be too harsh at the next restaurant you choose to have fine dining.

The first red flag is arguing in the kitchen. I totally understand that the chef’s kitchen can be very chaotic, but there should be some type of self-control when cooking. How can anyone create a masterpiece without concentration and confidence with all that negativity in the kitchen? If you have an answer, please leave a comment below.

The second red flag is a lack of customer service. Cooking is more than what you prepare, but a combination of how you treat the people you are serving. Warm, gentle, and friendly body language makes your signature dish taste that much better.

My final red flag is a lack of presentation. How your food is served to you works alongside customer service. Who will want to eat anything if it looks as if it was just thrown on your plate. Taking the extra effort to proportion everything properly and make the dish aesthetically pleasing goes a long way.

If your restaurant doesn’t take note of these vital flags, then it is for sure a toxic kitchen you should avoid. We have many more flags, but these are top on our list.

In Closing

To wrap it up, the three biggest red flags in the kitchen you should take note of are poor hygiene, unorganized kitchen, and worn-out cooking tools. 🚩🚩🚩

As you have completed reading this post, I’ve shared other red flags but overall, this is a brief overview. Trust me, I am well aware that there are plenty more, but this is top on my list. If you believe we missed anything, please share your comments below. I am curious to learn about what bothers you. Also, please do not forget to share it with your friends and family. So, the next time you cook a special dish, please remember these red flags in the kitchen. Tag us and we may promote your dish on our media platforms.

Karibe is the best cookware brand because of its Kulture, community, relationship with foodies and desire to continuously improve.

Our Kulture is the blending of African and Caribbean culture. We have even taken it a step further by blending other cultures and infusing it into our recipes. A great example of this is our Char Siu recipe. Our Char Siu highlights Chinese cuisine made Karibbean style.

What also enhances us to be the best cookware for home cooks is that it is our goal to build a community. KaribeTV and our relationship with other foodies help us achieve this daily. We are constantly challenged to improve; hence, we make it our goal to continuously learn and apply new techniques in our cookware.

Most brands’ sole focus is to just sell products. As a top cookware brand, we believe in providing more to everyone who cooks with Karibe. We consistently provide tips and tricks and highlight influencers who have made a lasting impression on us. You can view us as a source for everything related to food and home decor. All our cookware was designed with you as our focus. That is why we pride ourselves in having the best cookware for everyday use.

As you read on, you’ll learn why Karibe is a popular cookware brand. 😊

What makes Karibe a popular cookware brand is how we engage with our audience. We take pride in consistently developing our blog, The Kulture and our vlog, KaribeTV. The Kulture is more than a recipe blog compared to other brands. We focus on sharing recipes that highlight our culture as well as providing inspiration in the kitchen, cooking tips, and sharing history. KaribeTV touches this as well, but you get to watch us in action. Watch other foodies share their secrets, which will improve your cooking skills. Be sure to follow and subscribe!

Top Cookware Brand

Although you have a major impact on us, we are taking other steps to become a top cookware brand. Here at Karibe, we take the initiative to always improve. To dive a little deeper, we follow influencers, study old and new industry trends, and we tend to creep on other brands that are gunning for the top cookware brand spot. 😀

To separate ourselves from the rest, we also get creative in the kitchen. The blending of cultures is one of the many ways we practice this skill. Our Caribbean Style Shepherd’s Pie and Fricassee Chicken are examples of this.

In Conclusion

To wrap it up succinctly, our goal is to be the best. As stated, before Karibe is the best cookware brand because of its Kulture, community, relationship with foodies and desire to continuously improve.

Yes, everyone should have a cookbook. Regardless of your level in the kitchen, from someone who hates to cook or a professional chef, a recipe book as my elders may call it, is necessary. Continue reading to learn why everyone needs a cookbook. We will dive deeper into why it is necessary to have a recipe book. Learn how it plays a vital role in keeping family recipes and traditions. We may also help solve the question of whether you should create your own cookbook. It may seem old school or outdated, but I am convinced after reading this post you will understand why cookbooks are necessary.

Why Cookbooks Are Necessary

Cookbooks are more than just a collection of recipes. This is where you can keep all your secrets for success in the kitchen. Imagine your cookbook as a diary for all your cooking needs.

For example, you would store all your cooking tips and tricks that you gained from experience. These tips are personal to you, because this is knowledge that cannot be taught or gained from the web. This can also be a collection of tips passed down from generations within your family. You’ll also need to document your favorite recipes. Think of all the experiments you will be doing in the kitchen. Only you know what tastes best for you and your family. Also, you will need a cookbook for any geographical disasters. You don’t want to be stuck inside during a blizzard and struggling to whip up some tasty meals to hold you over. This may be a little extreme, but I like to be well prepared.

Last but not least, understanding why cookbooks are necessary is the foundation to help you be the best cook in your family

Family Recipes and Traditions

When you create your own cookbook, you have the potential to capture generations of family recipes and traditions. Family history is important as it is your own Kulture that shapes you and your family. Your great grandparents may not be amongst you in the physical form, but you have a spiritual connection through cooking. When you create your own cookbook, you strengthen the connection to your ancestors. All those secret recipes that you love to eat are now in your grasp to recreate. You can also add to your family recipes and traditions by contributing with your own creativity. This will for sure put yourself in the family history books. 😊

Create Your Own Cookbook

You now recognize why cookbooks are necessary, and it is time to create your own. I would recommend that you take this time to use it as a bonding moment. Create your recipe book with someone you love. My goal is not to add to your workload, but it may be wise to have a hard and digital copy. You would be very disappointed to create your own cookbook and not have a backup. When citing recipes and tips don’t forget The Kulture and KaribeTV. If you can be so kind as to leave a comment on how your cookbook turned out, it would be greatly appreciated. Please share what you added to your cookbook that you think we should include in our own cookbook.

In Closing

To wrap it succinctly, you need a cookbook. If you are one of those overconfident foodies, I hope I was able to kindly humble you as you see why cookbooks are necessary. After reading, I hope I was also successful in inspiring you to create your own cookbook. Add to your family’s traditions, tips, and tricks. Enhance your cookbook to be more than just a recipe book. 📖  If you have a cookbook but are struggling to develop the courage to get in the kitchen, there is no need to worry because we can provide you with tips to teach you how to cook and build your confidence.

If you enjoyed this post, please be so kind to share it with your friends and family. You never know who would like to create their own cookbook, but don’t know where to start. In the comments below, please share what recipes you will add to your recipe book. Enjoy and have a great day!

If you are one of those people that hate to cook or walk in the kitchen to do anything besides eating, no need to worry as you are not alone. Do you ever ask yourself, “Why don’t I like to cook”? You’ll be surprised as to why you struggle in the kitchen. It may be a combination of how you were raised, the influences around you, or lack of confidence. We got you covered as this post was created to give you tips if you hate to cook. I am confident after reading, you’ll develop many ways on how to enjoy cooking. You will be pleasantly surprised that the idea of you being bad may not have to deal with the entirety in the act itself.

Why Don’t I Like to Cook?

The idea of you not liking to cook may be more of mental block instead of the physical action. I mean if you enjoy eating then we need to look deeper at how to enjoy cooking. Here are three common reasons why you hate to cook.

First, it may stem from you being blessed from childhood. If you grew up with a parent or grandparents who love to cook, then you may have not any need to step in the kitchen. This is a blessing to have but definitely puts a hinderance on your cooking skills

The second reason is that you have limited time to actually prepare a nice meal. If you are always on the go or just have a busy life, you will tend to rely on quick meals or fast food. Although these are alternative options, you tend to miss out on great hearty meals. You’ll notice the difference on special holidays or dinner parties where food helps bring friends and family together.

The third and final reason tends to be common with all foodies. Nobody enjoys the clean up! I do not believe I need to go much further in explaining why no one likes cleaning up. Now that you have an understanding of why you may not enjoy it, check out our tips if you hate to cook.

Tips If You Hate to Cook

The best thing to do whenever you want to improve is to start off easy. I would recommend that you follow the Kulture or Subscribe to KaribeTV. On our related blogs you’ll find some quick and easy recipes that will make cooking that much more enjoyable. For example, our Nigerian Meat Pie is a foodie favorite, and we recommend you try it for your first dish. If you are more of a seafood lover, then you can’t go wrong with our pepper shrimp. Please don’t forget to tag us @karibecompany whenever you recreate one of our recipes. I would like to see your progress.

Finally, is that you will need quality cookware. I would recommend our 10” cast iron skillet as your first cookware item. Our skillet will handle all your needs and if properly maintained, it may last your lifetime. Now that you’re properly equipped, I am confident you will no longer be bad at cooking, and you can start enjoying your meals.

How to Enjoy Cooking?

To enjoy cooking, I found that if you had some motivation to drive you it would eliminate the question you ask yourself, “why don’t I like to cook”? One of the best motivating factors I found is to prepare meals for people you love. This can range from your children to your significant other. ❤️ You can also use this as a time to bond. How about cooking with your mother? You may gain significant tips on how to be a better cook. For example, continue to enhance family recipes or learn more about your family’s history. Finally, to motivate your enjoyment in the kitchen is to experiment with recipes you learn along your journey. Enhancing your skills is an ongoing task and you’ll be surprised with the improvement you make over the years.

In Closing

After a full evaluation of yourself, you can now have more confidence as you’re not the only person that does not like to cook. It has more to do with your upbringing and your daily schedule. It’s not that you hate to cook, but you may lack the skills to cook or be equipped with the proper kitchen tools. This should help answer your question, “Why don’t I like to cook”? If you enjoyed our tips and believe our recipes are a great kick starter, please share with your friends and family. Hopefully with this post we can end the ongoing issue of people disliking cooking. 😊

Now that you’re overcoming your hatred of cooking, check out our biggest red flags in the kitchen while cooking.

Do Caribbean’s cook better than Africans? This is the question we hear in our foodie’s debate, and we are here to put in our opinion. As a proud Afro-Caribbean brand it is only fitting that we engage in this conversation. The goal is to end this debate between Africans and Caribbean’s in the kitchen. After you have read our post, please feel free to provide your feedback. I believe that after you review this you will have a different perspective on the relationships between Africans and Caribbean’s. Please keep an open mind and any biases to yourself until you have come to the conclusion of this post. 😊

Now let’s take a trip to the beautiful continent of Africa! 🌍

African Roots

African roots are prominent in Caribbean history due to the slave trade. Many Caribbean’s as of today are direct descendants from Africa. Many islanders call themselves children of Africa. The slave trade has created a blending of many cultures from the respected African nations and spread throughout the Caribbean islands. Although we view slavery as immoral, what came over besides forced labor was the benefits the Caribbean’s received with the creativity of Food and music. We are proud of our history and make it a point to promote through cooking. 🍳 This fusion with Africa has created a strong cultural connection.

Africa’s influence is definitely a foundation to Caribbean culture!

Africa’s Influence

African culture and roots have a heavy influence on Caribbean cooking. If you want to get a taste for yourself, then you have to try our jerk chicken and brown stew chicken. Popular foods from Africa are embedded in many Caribbean’s diets, such as plantains and okra to name a few. The cultural exchange that is shared between the islands and the continent is amazing. This fusion with Africa is what makes the Caribbean unique. At this point you would agree that predominately the population in the Caribbean Islands are Africans. Here at Karibe, we recognize that African history also takes place in the Caribbean as well.

Caribbean Food Better Than African Food

I hope you enjoyed our brief history lesson. 😊 Now let’s dive into weather Caribbean’s can cook better than Africans.

The argument between whose food is better is nonsense. Neither Africans nor Caribbean’s are better than each other. As you’ve previously read, many Caribbean dishes come from or are a mix from Africa. The very Africans that were brought to the islands due slavery are the foodies that create the special dishes we eat today. Here at Karibe, we believe in unity and identify as one within the African diaspora. ✊🏿 Honestly, whenever we hear this debate, it gives us a nice chuckle. Cleary those debating is not aware of Caribbean’s fusion with Africa.

In Closing

If you want to come up with your own conclusion and are looking to try some popular recipes, then the Kulture and KaribeTV is the go-to for all popular recipes. All recipes highlights Africa’s influence so we are confident you will enjoy. There is a nice blend of Afro- Caribbean dishes. 🍽️ After reading my post, I would like your feedback on who you believe offers the better food. Please also share your view on the Caribbean and African connection. If you enjoyed this post, please share it with your friends and family. I am curious to know what your peers think. It is time to end the debate on Caribbean food better than African food.
